You can make a difference to an animal in need!

So how does this website work?

(Last updated November 2nd, 2012)

This website is designed to connect potential pet owners with rescues and shelters in Ontario. We've contacted as many rescues and shelters across Ontario that we could locate and asked them if they would like to advertise their 'hard-to-place' animals on this website. Shelters and rescues that did want to then signed an agreement with SHC. It outlines what we will do for each other and also emphasizes a high level of animal care. You can check out the contract that was signed by clicking here. (If you would like to add a rescue or shelter or know of one that is interested in participating, please direct them to this website so they can get in contact with us!)

All of the animals found on this website have been deemed 'hard-to-place' or special needs by their shelter/rescue. This can be for a number of reasons some of which may be a medical or behavioural issue, age, length of time at shelter/foster care, disability, species or colour. In some instances it may also be because of overcrowding at a shelter.

When viewing the animals for adoption you will be able to search through all of the animals featured. You will also be able to specify your search using drop down menus for organization, species and issue. You can use one of these search options or all of them. After searching through the animals listed and now having found the love of your life you will be directed to the rescue or shelter that the animal is located at. Adoption procedures vary with organization and you will have to go through their process and meet their standards in order to adopt the animal. If you have any questions regarding an animal found on this website please feel free to contact us!
