Rat Terrier Rescue Canada Inc. is a charitable non-profit, volunteer organization that rescues and fosters Rat Terriers in private homes. We are dedicated to finding new, permanent and loving homes for Rat Terriers that have been abused, neglected or abandoned. Rat Terriers are a small, active and likeable breed that is growing in popularity Canada. Our rescued Rat Terriers are originally from shelters, pounds, unwanted owner surrenders or puppy mills. They are vetted, placed in foster homes for assessment and to get them ready for their adoptive families. All Rat Terriers coming into rescue are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and tested for heartworm. As a non-profit organization, Rat Terrier Rescue Canada operates solely by donations and fundraising and all funds are used only for the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of Rat Terriers in need. Join Rat Terrier Rescue Canada's Facebook Group! It's an easy way to stay in touch with RTRC and learn how you can help our rescued dogs. Go to https://www.facebook.com/RTRCanada

We are a small rescue that deal with chinchillas. The goal of the CCR is to place as many chinchillas as possible in forever homes. We believe every chinchilla has the right to a FURever home and will do our best to help any chinchilla in need. Currently the chinchillas in the rescue are mostly in Mississauga but we do have foster homes in Toronto and Quebec. We are hoping to create foster homes right across Canada one day. Any of the chinchillas are able to be brought to the GTA area very easily. NOTE: Chinchillas are not neutered or spayed. This is due to the fact that it is very dangerous to put a chinchilla under AND the post op complications that commonly arise. We do not allow ANY breeding of ANY of the rescues.

Boston Terrier Rescue Canada (BTRC) is dedicated to the safety and welfare of single breed and mixed breed Boston Terriers in Canada. Our program takes in Boston Terriers that are abandoned, no longer wanted, or that can no longer be cared for, rehabilitating and caring for each dog until they can be matched with a carefully screened new home. Along with veterinarians, trainers and other dog-related professionals, our dedicated volunteers work hard to ensure each dog receives all medical and other care necessary to ready them for adoption. BTRC volunteers work to educate the public about the Boston Terrier breed, and the considerations of owning and caring for a Boston Terrier. We promote the benefits of spaying and neutering, and provide owners with guidance and referrals to help them deal with issues which may otherwise require them giving up their pet. Boston Terrier Rescue Canada is a registered Canadian charity staffed solely by unpaid volunteers. Charity Registration No. 80707 4091 RR0001

Precious Paws Rescue is a non-profit, all-breed dog rescue based in Barrie, Ontario. We are dedicated to saving the lives of homeless pets by rescuing from pounds and shelters across North America. Our dogs come to us from situations where they are at risk of euthanasia - most often due to lack of space in a pound or shelter. While in rescue our dogs do not stay in a shelter environment, but rather in private foster homes where they can receive all of the TLC that they so desperately need. This also gives us a chance to properly assess the dogs in a home environment so that we can place them in the best possible "forever" home. Most often the dogs we receive come to us with minor to major medical issues. Whether it be as simple as deworming for parasites or as costly as orthopedic surgery, we do not give up on any animal simply due to medical needs. All of our dogs are fully vetted, including spayed/neutered and microchipped, prior to being placed in adoptive homes.

Abbey Cat Adoptions is a non-profit organization dedicated to finding permanent homes for abandoned cats and kittens in the Greater Toronto Area. We work closely with foster homes and potential adopters to find a suitable match between families and their new pet. Due to an overwhelming number of kittens born each year there are hundreds of healthy young cats and kittens who are at risk of euthanasia in overcrowded shelters or exposure to the elements in the coming winter months. It is our mission to find a permanent and loving home for each Abbey Cat and many others who are waiting to enter the program. We are a no-kill organisation and as such the cats/kittens are with us until they are adopted or for the remainder of their lives if unable to find suitable homes for them.

Our rescue has been operating since May, 08. We have saved 65 wonderful horses from slaughter in that time, and will continue to do so. The majority of our horses are sound and without issue, but not every one. I believe that despite the issues that some of our horses may have, they are not insurrmountable. Are we going to start putting people to sleep when they get arthritis or go blind in an eye?

Animal Welfare Association is a registered charity, chartered in 1949, dedicated to rescuing abandoned, stray animals (mostly cats) and finding good homes for them. Every animal that comes into our care is treated by a veterinarian for any medical problems, tested for FLV, vaccinated, treated for fleas and worms and spayed or neutered. We do not euthanize healthy, adoptable animals. Sick and injured cats are restored to good health unless the vet advises that euthanasia is in the best interests of the animal. We do not have our own shelter, therefore, cats are boarded or placed in a foster home until a suitable adoption can be arranged. Our adoption fee goes towards medical and boarding expenses but usually covers only a fraction of our costs. We cannot afford to re-home pets that already have owners. We receive no funding from any source and rely on private donations and fund-raising to pay our substantial vet bills. We are all volunteers and pay no salaries. All our adoptive families are carefully screened and cats are placed in a home on a 2-week trial to ensure that both the animal and the new owner are satisfied with the match. The adoption fee is completely refundable within the 2-week trial period. If you are looking for a feline companion and can provide a loving, permanent, indoor home, please think about adopting one of our homeless cats. They have so much love to give.

In 1989 the Gananoque & District Humane Society began Pet Rescue and Re-homing services in the Town of Gananoque and the former Front of Leeds Township (the portion of the amalgamated Township of Leeds and the Thousand Islands south of Gananoque Lake). In 1992 we incorporated as a full service NO KILL affiliate of the Ontario SPCA. As a NO KILL Humane Society, we will not euthanize one adoptable pet to make space for another. Pets too sick or injured to be saved or so vicious that they cannot be rehabilitated are humanely released from their misery. We will not release animals for medical research and, to the best of our ability, we screen all prospective adopters to ensure that all pets are adopted into a safe, loving, forever home. Our locally elected volunteer Board and all volunteers serve without compensation or honoraria. We have no paid employees. In 2009 a grant from the OSPCA, funded by the Province of Ontario, enabled us to purchase our own Shelter, allowing us to save more homeless pets than ever before. We will not turn away a homeless pet in urgent need and as a result we are constantly overcrowded. Despite continuous fundraising efforts, funds are always short, further hampering our ability to assist pets at risk. We invite all who believe that every homeless pet deserves a chance to bring joy and experience love to join us in helping those who have nowhere else to turn. Technically, the Society does not look after strays but animals of all kinds in most desperate need find themselves medically treated, vaccinated, altered, microchipped, flea treated, dewormed, and tested for diseases such as heartworm, FIV and Feline Leukemia. Every person who works in the daily shelter environment, foster homes and fundraisers are volunteers ... the Society has no paid staff. The society assists organizations in the community, including the OPP, CAS, Senior Support Services, Canadian Mental Health and Family Violence Assistant Programs. Although the Society does not look after cruelty investigations directly, it houses and treats animals when necessary for the OPP. Monetary donations and donations of food, non-clumping unscented litter, bleach, bottled water, medical food, and other animal related items are always appreciated and needed. Poet's Vision Aussie Rescue is a volunteer based, registered and incorporated not for profit organization located in Perth, Ontario. We are dedicated to rescuing and rehoming deaf and visually impaired Australian Shepherds and Aussie mixes. The impairments these dogs have are a result of merle to merle breeding. Through no fault of their own many of these dogs end up abandoned, abused, neglected, dumped and killed because many consider them to be "defective" and unable to function in a seeing and hearing world. "They are not normal dogs", is what many think. Even if a double merle dog makes it into a shelter their chances of being placed for adoption are slim and many are euthanized due to ignorance. We know that these dogs can and do lead normal happy lives. With the help of our volunteer foster families we provide a stable environment where the dogs are treated as one of our own. All dogs brought into our care are given necessary veterinarian care including spaying and neutering. The dogs are trained in hand signals and touch signals as well as given plenty of opportunities for socialization with other dogs and people.

The Little RES Q is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and relocation of pet turtles in an attempt to keep them from being released into the wild. We provide a better option for those who, for one reason or another, cannot take care of their reptiles anymore. The rescue is a federally registered Canadian Charity (#83386 4514 RR0001) under its parent company’s official name, Lil Big Rescue. Founded in 2008 by Marc Ouellette, the rescue started as a dedicated aquatic turtle shelter in Toronto Ontario and has since grown to have locations across Ontario and Quebec and now accepts in most legal reptiles as space permits. Many small reptiles, especially turtles, get purchased as a pet for a young family member without fully understanding the costs in both material and time needed for proper care of the animal. Sadly all too often these poor creatures suffer from neglect even with the owner's best intentions. We are a limited admittance network of shelters that limits intake in order to uphold a standard in quality of life for the surrenders in our care. We implement a waiting list when necessary, use a foster care network to help, and emphasize adoption and responsible pet ownership for all types of reptiles.

We are Melissa McClelland, Janine Stoll and Lisa Winn; best friends and musical co-horts for many years. All musicians by trade and animal lovers by heart. We launched the Ladybird Animal Sanctuary in December of 2010 with the idea of starting small, but planning big. We currently keep our rescued animals in foster homes, but plan to eventually purchase property to build a sanctuary to house more cats, dogs and small animals, but to also to accommodate larger farm animals who are in need of a place to go. We rescue our animals from 'high-kill' shelters. These are animals who would otherwise be euthanized by no fault of their own. We offer these animals our animals love, shelter, food and medical attention. Animals stay in our care until we find a loving home to adopt them. When our sanctuary is built, it will also serve as a secure and permanent home for animals considered to be “un-adoptable” due to age or medical issues. This is the Ladybird Sanctuary and we run strictly on donations and the kindness of others. All funds go towards the animals and the cost of keeping them healthy, happy and safe. Help us save these innocent creatures from an awful fate and find them a loving home to call their own. They deserve a second chance at a happy life. Thank you for your interest and your support. Love, the Ladybirds (Melissa, Janine and Lisa)
